Optikey for Free
I've always thought of social media as being entertaining but not much more. So I believed of Reddit. I have used it as a source of entertainment on Sunday mornings when I'm having a leisurely cup of coffee.
I have always been intrigued by the AMA section of Reddit. This is where someone signs on and gives a little rundown of their own situation and then invites everyone to "Ask Me Anything." You get scientists, celebrities, government officials and all sorts that are suddenly available to the public. Of course, there are a lot of people that are not famous as well.
Instead of just randomly entertaining myself, I decided to try looking for Assistive Technology in the AMA area since that is my profession. I found this guy who has created an app for controlling computers with eye movements. Here is a link on reddit
This is an amazing find! Software like this allows people who cannot use a keyboard and often cannot speak to be able to communicate with the public by using eye movements. Now its free to anyone who wants it. Guess I need to start using social media tools for something other than passing the time on Sunday mornings!
